Revision Retreat at Carnforth High School

Carnforth High School students had the opportunity to be part of a residential trip to Winmarleigh Hall, with a focus on achieving Grade 5s in English and Maths and building resilience and confidence as we get closer to the GCSE exams this summer.

On Thursday 23rd March, 58 Year 11 students set off bright and early to the PGL adventure centre just outside Garstang. Upon arrival, they were straight into a range of activities to help with resilience and teamwork as they braved the elements to complete raft building, climbing and zip wire challenges. It was essential for everyone to work together and support each other but the most important lesson from the activities was the importance of not giving up when things are tough – vital over these next few months.

The trip was hugely successful for a number of reasons: it was the first residential for many; it allowed students to understand that their only barriers were their own limitations and it gave intense focus to a number of the most important aspects of the English and Maths exams. Bring on the next one!
